One Page. One Night. One Decision.

Ever been on a blind date with a book?

Read at First Sight is a two-part literary event that invites readers to choose a book the way we rarely do anymore: without the cover, the author’s name, or any advance reputation—just the power of the first page.

On arrival, guests wander through a curated installation of anonymous opening pages suspended throughout the space. Each page belongs to a different book, stripped of identifying details. Read freely. Linger where you feel something. Move on when you don’t.

At the end of the experience, participants select the book whose first page spoke to them most—purchasing it without knowing what it is until the reveal.

Part I: The Blind Read

Step into a curated forest of stories. Dozens of anonymous “First Pages” will be suspended throughout the shop.

The Rules: No titles, no authors, and no cover art.

The Mission: Wander the aisles and let the writing speak for itself.

The Choice: When a story resonates, mark it down, and you’ll receive your mystery book based only on the words that spoke to you most.

This is a celebration of intuition, curiosity, and the quiet chemistry between reader and text.

Part II: The Afterword (Optional)

Once the books are chosen, the conversation begins. Stay for a relaxed social hour with fellow readers.

  • Group Discussion: Guests are invited to stay and socialize—either in small groups formed around the same chosen book, or in open discussion with fellow readers.
  • The Matchmaker: For those who opt in, Read at First Sight also offers a discreet post-event connection: attendees who selected the same book can be introduced after the event, should they wish.

Whether romantic, platonic, or purely literary, the goal is simple—connection sparked by story.
